大阪弾丸日帰りツアー

関空には何度も行ったけど、大阪の街は一度も訪れたことがなかった。
行きの新幹線の中で行先を決めた。
• まずは大阪駅周辺を歩きまくる。お店が沢山！初めて食べた明石焼き
• 途中疲れたので足のマッサージを受けて御堂筋線で心斎橋へ。商店街を通って道頓堀へ
• 500円で30分吉本のライブの呼び込みにつられて中へ入る。
• 夕食は、これまた大阪名物の串揚げをお腹いっぱい食べる。

世界一忙しい男の人

週末に二人で広島市内のワインバーに行った。
とても狭い店で、カウンターに椅子が8脚、二人座れるテーブルが一つあった。
トイレはない。（店の外にあった。）
その日は満席だった。
感じの良い男性一人がそこで働いていた。
お客さんは皆、よく食べよく飲んでいた。
その人は常に3～4個の料理を同時に作りながら、注文をとり、ワインについてかなり詳しく説明してくれた。
予約の電話を受け、できた食べ物をだし、皿を洗い、会計もしていた。
食事や飲み物が出てくるタイミングも悪くなかった。神業だ！
とにかくあんなに働く人を見たのは生まれて初めてだった。
食事もワインのチョイスも良かった。
しかし、動きまくる彼を見ていると、落ち着いた気持ちで食事はできなかった。
今頑張って、お金を貯めて人を雇って少し大きなお店をもつのが目標なのかな？
全てをこなせる彼なら、良い店ができるだろう。エールを送りたい。

The busiest man in the world

We went to a wine bar in Hiroshima.
The bar was very small. It had a bar with 8 stools.
There was only one table, which seated two people.
There were no restrooms.
The restaurant was full.
There was only one man working.
Everyone was ordering lots of food and drinks.
While he was cooking, he took orders, explained details about the wines, answered phone calls, served the food, and washed the dishes.
He did everything almost perfectly.
I’d never seen anyone that busy.
The food and drinks were good, but I don’t think I would go back there again.
Just looking at that busy man made me a bit dizzy.

大盛りの前菜

アメリカのレストランでは、一つ一つの料理の量がかなり多い。
でも今まではちゃんと、食べきれる量を上手に注文できていた。
この間ニューオリンズに行った時の事、三人で滞在中二度目となるそのレストランへ夕食に行った。週末は一時間待ちの人気店だ。
席が取れるまで、バーで待つことになった。バーテンダーが、飲み物と前菜はここで注文できるよ、と教えてくれて、「本日の前菜」を説明してくれた。
我々は、カクテルと「本日の前菜」を注文した。新鮮なカリッとしたポテトに、カニとチーズがのっていて、美味しかった。が、それは前菜と呼ぶには程遠いくらい、山盛りだった。
そうこうしているうちに、テーブルの準備ができた。バーでひとまず勘定を済ませ、カクテルと前菜と共に、移動した。
それから前菜の生牡蠣を注文した。
二杯目のドリンクと生牡蠣を食べ終わる頃、三人ともお腹がいっぱいになった。
前菜はまだ残っていた。
メインコースを注文する事が不可能となり、お勘定をしてもらった。
エビ料理や、ザリガニ料理や、色々食べたいものがあったのに・・・・
ウエイトレスさんの視線が怖かった。

A huge appetizer

I’m usually good at ordering the right amount of food at restaurants in America.
Lots of restaurants in America serve big dishes.
That day, we had to wait at the bar until our table was ready.
The bartender said that we could order drinks and appetizers at the bar.
He explained about ‘the appetizer of the day’, which sounded good.
We ordered drinks and ‘the appetizer of the day’.
It was fresh crispy potato with crab and cheese. It was delicious, but it was so big.
After a little while, we were told our table was ready.
We paid the bill at the bar and moved to the table.
We ordered fresh oysters there.
After that, we were going to order our main courses.
By the time the oysters were served, we were already full.
We couldn’t eat any more, and the waitress looked disgusted.
