床の汚れ

ＢＪの床が、点々と黒く汚れていた。拭くとすぐにとれる。
「何がついたのかな？」ＮさんとＹさんに聞いてみた。
Ｙさんは、「私の生徒かも。。。」と言っていた。
何故なら、その男子生徒は、新品の靴をその日はいて来たからだった。
数分後、Ｙさんと何かの打ち合わせをしている時に、彼女は何か重大な事に気付いた顔をした。
彼女が座っている椅子の足元には、例の黒い汚れがついていた。
そう、人のせいにしたけれど、あの汚れはＹさんの新品の靴のせいだった。
直ちに、彼女は黙々と床の掃除を始めた。
「灯台下暗し」

Dirt on the floor

I saw some black spots on the floor at school.
I wondered why and asked N and Y.
Y said those spots might have come from one of her student’s shoes.
The reason that Y thought that was because that student’s shoes were new.
Then a few minutes later, while Y was talking with me, she realized those spots had come from her own new shoes.
She started cleaning the floor right away.
‘The darkest place is under the candlestick.’
I wondered why and asked N and Y.

BJのスタッフ、Aさんは、夜中に目が覚めてトイレに行こうとした。
突然、めまいを感じた。
「いったい私どうしちゃったのかな？」不安が彼女を包み込んだ。
ベッドに腰をかけ、少し休んだ。
少しすると、めまいはおさまった。
数分後、東広島市から、地震があったとのメールが入った。
揺れていたのはAさんでなく、地面だったのだ！
ちなみに、もう一人のスタッフYさんは、地震に全く気付かずに眠っていたそうだ。
Aさんも、地震に気づいていないといえば、そうだったのかもしれない。

One of the B.J. Club staff, A, got up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night.
Then suddenly, she became dizzy.
She started wondering what was wrong with her.
She sat down, rested for a while, and she felt better.
She wasn’t dizzy anymore.
A few minutes later, she found out there had been an earthquake.
It wasn’t her. It was the earth!
