The brave rescue mission

Kate only had 30 minutes’ break between lessons.
She found out that one of the baby birds had fallen out of the nest and had landed in the poo box.
She quickly went upstairs and borrowed a ladder from the landlord.
She climbed up the ladder and successfully put the baby bird back in the nest.
The nest was so high, it must have been so scary to climb up the ladder.
What a good job!

I’m sure the swallow family really appreciates what Kate did for them.

日課を変えた事による惨事

私には毎朝の日課がある。
７時に起き、朝ごはん（玄米ご飯、味噌汁、納豆か卵かけ）と昼ご飯を同時に作り、朝ごはんを食べる。鈴に豆腐と茹でておいたササミをチンして、ドッグフードに混ぜてあげる。
鈴と花の水をかえて、食器を洗い、台所をピカピカにする。
その後は新聞を時間をかけて読み、掃除機をかけ、洗濯かどこか一か所を集中的に掃除し、１５分間ヨガをする。
フットマッサージ機をかけながら、英字新聞を声に出して読む。二日に一回実家の両親に電話をかけ安否確認をする。
仕事に出かける前に鈴の散歩に行く。
この日課は、ずっと続けている。
親しい人は「○○の一つ覚え」と私に面と向かって言う。
しかし今朝は、順序を変え、鈴の散歩を早めにした。はりきって準備をして出かけた。
エレベーターまで行ったら「点検中」！
そういえば、張り紙がしてあった。
いつも通りの日課の順番だったら、「点検」も終わっていて６階～１階を階段で往復する事もなかったのに。
やっぱり「○○の一つ覚え」でも朝の日課は、スケジュール通りにすべきなのだ。

The consequences of breaking a routine

I have a weekday morning routine.
I get up at 7, make breakfast and lunch at the same time, and eat breakfast.
I feed Suzu and do the dishes.
After that, I read the newspaper, vacuum clean all the rooms, and do Yoga for 15 minutes.
I read an English newspaper while I get a foot massage.
Then I take Suzu for a walk.
This morning, I broke that routine and took Suzu for a walk earlier than usual.
I walked to the elevator and found that I was not in service.
If I had stuck to my routine, I wouldn’t have had to walk up and down six floors.

フリーランスでマッサージをする人

今回のGWでカナダを旅行中、チャイナタウンに３度、フットマッサージを受けに行った。
長いフライトの後、足がパンパンだった。
一日目、マッサージ店に入ったら受付の人が昼食を食べていた。
私たちが入っても、食べ続けながら、話をした。
私たちは座らされ、足湯が始まった。
暫くすると、外から男の人が二人入ってきて、フットマッサージを始めた。
マッサージが終わって私たちが帰るとき、彼らも一緒に出ていった。
二日目、呼び込まれるがまま、違うお店に行った。
三日目、またこれも違うお店に行った。フットマッサージを受けている間、男の人が入ってきた。その人は、なんと、初日に私のフットマッサージをした人だった。
「また外からフリーランスがくるかもね」と言っていたので、そのおじさんが入ってきた時、私たちは顔を合わせて笑った。
カナダのチャイナタウンのマッサージの質は、どこへ行っても変わらないようだ。
フリーランスのマッサージ氏は何処でいつも待機しているのだろうか？
一つ言えることは、フリーランスより、お店の常駐の人の方が上手であったということだろう。

My legs were swollen from the long flight.
On the first day, when we entered the massage salon, the receptionist was eating her lunch.
She didn’t stop eating her lunch while she was talking to us.
We were seated and they brought us a hot water bath.
After a while, two men came from outside and started our foot massage.
After the massage, we left the salon, so did they.
On the second day, we went to a different massage salon.
On the third day, we went to another massage salon.
While we were getting the foot massage, there was a man came in.
He was the man who had done my foot massage at the first salon.
Freelance masseurs go to every salon in Chinatown, which means the massage salons’ qualities are all the same.
