それは郵便局で順番待ちをしていた時に起こった。

カウンター越しの郵便局の人に向かって、男性が怒りながら支払い用紙と思われるものを、何度も何度も突き刺すように指差している。
「一体全体何故そんなに怒っているのか？」
聞き耳をたてるも、ちょうど私の真後ろの中年女性二名のおしゃべりの声にかき消される。
全神経を集中させる。
う～ん、怒っていることしかわからない。
そのうち「ピンポーン」という電子音と共に、番号が呼ばれる。
なんとその番号は、私の次の番号だった。
私としたことが、聞き耳をたてるのに忙しくて、自分の番号を聞き逃していた。
人の事を気にするよりも、自分の仕事をしなくては。

少し反省！

There was an angry man at the post office.
He was furiously tapping a pay slip on the counter many times while he yelled at the clerk.

I was trying to understand why he was so upset.

However, two women behind me were chatting.
Even though I concentrated on their conversation, I couldn’t hear them.

Then, I heard a number called.
It was the number after me.

I was too busy eavesdropping, and missed my turn.

I was busy at work, but I’m not too busy to be nosey.

ちょっとした間違い

銀行から電話があった。
「給与振り込みの名前が間違っています。」
「シュナイダー」を「シュナイザー」犬の犬種と間違えたようだ。

訂正印を押したりするのに、また銀行へ行かなければならなかった。
５４０円の支払いも発生した。
おまけに、駐車場の無料の手続きをして貰ったのに、何故かそうなってなくて、２００円払った。

ダとサを間違えただけで、４０分という時間とガソリン代、７４０円の余分な経費がかかった。

A little mistake

I got a call from my bank.

The clerk said that the name of our employee was wrong.
I wrote, ‘シュナイダー‘’シュナイザー‘.

I had to go to the bank to fix the problem.
There was a charge of 540 yen to correct the mistake.
What was more, I had to pay 200 yen for the parking.
The parking ticket I got at the bank somehow didn’t work.
