レストランにて

私たちは、沢山の食べ物と飲み物を注文した。
ウェイトレスは、律儀に全てを繰り返した。
その後、何故か５秒間沈黙が続いた。私たちは見つめあったままだった。
｢私がなにか言わなければならないのだろうか？｣と不安になった。
その直後｢BJですか？｣と彼女は言った。
｢はい｣と答えると、彼女は自分の名字を言った。
私は｢ゆうか？｣というと、そうだと言う。
彼女は小学生の時にBJに通っていた。
今ではバイトもできる位の年齢となり、綺麗なお嬢さんとなっていた。
あまりにも早い時の流れに、またまた驚いた出来事だった。

The waitress repeated them all.
After that, there were 5 seconds’ silence.
We looked at each other, and she said, ‘BJ Club???’
I said, ‘Yes’. She told us her family name.
I said, ‘Yuka?’
She used to come to BJ club when she was an elementary school student.
Now, she is old enough to have a part time job at a restaurant.
I couldn’t believe how fast time had gone.

ウニ女

バリ島夕方のビーチを散歩していると、二人の青年がなにやら食べている。
じ～っと見つめていると’Come! Come!'と手招きする。
ウニ女は一目散に彼らに向かい駆け出した。
ウニを殻から出す術を伝授してもらう。
やってみる。
ウニとりに飽きた青年達は、４つの未開封のうにと美和ちゃんを残し立ち去る。
その後も必死にうにを殻からだす。
こんな感じ。
塩からいが、後からあま～い。
必死
おいしい
「おいしい」を連発しながら、うにを一つ食べ終わった美和ちゃんは次の瞬間、
「口が、唇がしびれてきた…」とさっき迄の笑顔が消え、青ざめる。
私は「もうやめとこう！」と言った。
まだ３つのウニが残っているものの、命にはかえられない。
ヴィラまでの帰り道、従業員にウニを食べてしびれたら死ぬのか聞いてみた。
その人は「自分は食べた事無いけどこれ飲んで」と、冷たい水をくれた。
それから美和ちゃんは、急いで私に「鈴ちゃんの事頼むね」とか言うので、
私も「他に言い残す事はない？」と一応聞いておいた。
暫くすると、しびれはおさまり、美和ちゃんは生き延びる事ができた。
私は美和ちゃんを「ウニ女」と命名した。
